Meet Oscar Cruz. Oscar was the 12th recipient of The ‘Kel Strong’ Scholarship awarded in June 2023. Unfortunately, since awarding the scholarship to him, the Foundation hasn’t been able to get in contact with Mr. Cruz. The foundation made several attempts to get in contact with him, to meet, and hear how he is doing but we were unsuccessful. According to his physical therapist that treated him with his scholarship visits, he made lots of progress in transfers which was the biggest goal for him. Oscar sustained a traumatic brain injury due to a motor vehicle accident as a pedestrian. He was hit by a car. “Therapy looks like it was a big success for him,” according to the management at TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation. That is all we can ask for and we wish Oscar Cruz the best in his recovery journey.
